One tola is 11.6638 grams and is divided into 12 masha. Silver is sold in the same units as gold in Pakistan, and per 10 grams for coins and small bars.

The number shows purity out of 1,000. Fine silver (999) is 99.9% pure and is used for bars and coins. Sterling silver (925) is 92.5% silver mixed with other metals, which makes it harder and better for jewellery and cutlery.
